At Decompression there will be an altar, much like the ones made for Dia de los Muertos - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dia_de_los_muertos

This altar is a celebration of lives of loved ones no longer with us as well as a point of guidance back here, should our they want to join us at Decom.

Traditionally the altars have candles to light the way back, favorite foods and pan de muertos for sustenance after the long journey, water to quench their thirst, and soap and water to freshen themselves. There are also photos, trinkets, gifts, and other ofrendas for them - perhaps their favorite cigarettes or maybe a type of sweet they really enjoyed - and sometimes items that belonged to them in life.

I invite everyone to bring something to place on the altar as an offering to and celebration of loved ones who have died. These items should not be things that you would be gutted were they lost or damaged as I cannot guarantee that will not happen. If you do want something returned please put your name and email address somewhere on the item and I will do my best to get it back to you.

If you check out this flickr search, you will see altars similar to what I am making: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/diadelosmuertos/clusters/

If you would like to help design, contruct, or decorate the altar before Decompression please get in touch with me via the Playadust or London's Burning lists. Or simply add your name below mine so I know you are interested!
